Life Story for Dr. Willie Belle Burrel

A BEAUTIFUL LEGACY

Life of Dr. Willie Belle Burrel

Dr. Willie Belle Burrel passed on October 10, 2018 with family by her side. Dr. Burrel was born on June 13,1929 in Tuskegee AL. She was the 5th child of 10 born to Slone and Ophelia Forte.

Dr. Burrel married the early Bishop Wm L. Burrel on July 22, 1951 and to this union 7 sons and 5 daughters were born. All oftheir sons and two of their daughters are licensed and/or ordained ministers. All 12 are college graduates. Their children’s talents/gifts range from pastoring, teachers, musicians, authors, recording artists, administrators.

Dr. Burrel loved education, skipping several grades. She went on to college to earn an Associates, Bachelors, Master of Theology Degree and an Honorary Doctor of Divinity. Dr. Burrel received many awards, of those awards, Muskegon Community College Distinguished Woman of the Year and an award from the Northern District Council for being the longest serving member of that council, 71 years. She was a world traveler on the mission field with her husband, active in the community, one of the founding members of the James Jackson Museum of African American History, and active in the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. local, state and national level. She is the Co-Founder/President of the W MI Bible Inst., Inc., Sunday School teacher, evangelist and Church Mother at Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Church, where her son Sfg. Bishop Avery D. Burrel is Pastor, Author, “Color Me Beautiful”, a collection of her own poetry, exhorter, mentor, singer, and the list goes on and on.

Those that went on before her; Husband, Bishop Wiliam L. Burrel; daughter, Ozetta Rebecca Burrel; son, Sfg. Bishop Willie L. Burrel; granddaughter, Lillian Belle Rose Burrel; sisters, Claudia Simpson-Dumas, Slonia Portee; brothers, Dan Forte andJohn Forte. Leaving to cherish her memory: Sfg. Bishop Carlton D. (Gayle) Burrel-Niles MI, Evang. Judy (Leodis) Turner-Muskegon MI, Sfg. Bishop Avery D. (Debra) Burrel-Muskegon Hts, MI, Elder Thurston N. Burrel-Shaker Hts, OH, Min. Beverly Burrel-Johnson-Muskegon MI, Elder OnesiphorusB. Burrel-Muskegon MI, Sfg. Bishop Theophilus R. (Lecia) Burrel-Muskegon MI, Evang. Yvette L. Burrel Jackson-Nashville TN, Jacqueline Burrel-Doss-Nashville TN, Elder Joseph M. (Stephanie) Burrel-Kalamazoo MI. Sisters; Evang. Ruby Portee-White Plans NY; Slone Forte-Tuskegee AL, Roosevelt Forte-Tuskegee AL, Millie Colvert-Tuskegee AL and Evang. Alberta (Bishop Charles) McNair-Madison WI. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren; godchildren, nieces, nephews, Christ Temple Church family and many more. God bless this Beautiful Legacy to live on.
